In chapter 1, when Harold does the task of his farm, a gnome appeared in his farm. He starts to live with Harold because he likes the place. At first, gnome helps him, but he goes on strike. gnome tells him that he want half of everything you grow. Harold decides to trick him. Harold says that gnome can have the next crop and choose top or bottom half. he chooses bottom half. That spring, gnome has little harvest, but Harold can harvest lots of crops. After that, every time gnome raises his crops, he is disturbed by Harold and has little harvest. At last, he go out of Harold's farm.
In chapter 2, a girl is skipping. Then she sees a fairy be stuck by a spider. After the girl helps a fairy
, she is said to follow the fairy. When the fairy persuade the girl to imagine going to the hill which a lot of goblins live, she become small and small. After they go and open the door, a lot of them welcome them. The king of goblins celebrates her and Prince Kester gives her magic flowers. Then he ask goblins to sing for her. Finally, the king decides to go picnic with her and them. the girl must go back at last. she said goodbye to them and go through the tunnel. After that she shoot to her usual size. I think that magic flower made her shoot to usual size.
In chapter 3, Jack arrives at Oxford. He starts to fall in asleep on a pixie bridge. In the night, some pixies show up in the bridge and take him to a chimney. when they go inside it, a lot of pixie enjoyed partying. he enjoys too, but as the sun rose, they vanish. Then he fall in asleep. In the morning, she wake up to find himself in the bridge and find the silver cup which he had in the party. When he sells the cup, a shopkeeper said that it was stolen last night and he was thief. He was taken to a judge. Jack says "I wish I'd never slept on that white bridge". The judge says "Why didn't you say? you are free to go". I think that the bridge where he falls in asleep was said that pixies who deceive people show up.
In chapter 4, everyday, when James goes back to house, he always see a strange light. He is told that the strange light is the candle of Willo the Wisp and he keeps away by his mother. One say, he decide
s to go to the strange light. On the way to it, some animal, frog and owl warn him not to go, but he didn't hear. When he go into dangerous marsh, then Willo the Wisp show up. It tries to capture him, but he vanish because he blow the candle of it. In fact, the candle is its life. After that he brings back it to his house and keep in good care.
Through reading chapter 1,2,3 and 4, I think that Gnomes and Goblins aren't necessarily good fairy.
